The Vineyards

Martin's Lane Winery
Vineyard tastings by appointment only.
Vineyard Philosophy: “I like to wander the three tiny estate vineyards every morning to get to know and check on the individual blocs. Kurt and I will often do this together. I take a micro view of the vineyard and think about wines right down to the single block or vine. I consider my winemaking approach gentle and guiding. We use gravity alone, and five simple movements in our 6-level winery. Our wines are tended, harvested and crafted by hand. We don’t interfere. We don’t use a single pump. We believe this brings out elegant and complex expressions of Pinot Noir and Riesling.”
Martin's Lane Vineyard Featured Wines

Martin’s Lane Simes Vineyard Riesling 2021
Off dry in style to highlight & capture the vibrancy of this cool, lakeside parcel of Riesling. Tangerine zest. White flowers. Delicate. Succulent. Pure
Martin’s Lane Naramata Ranch Pinot Noir 2017
Two distinct vineyard parcels. Vivid elevation transitions through this geologically diverse site challenge the combination of Dijon clones to present a bold wine with purity and focus. Powerful. Cranberry. Spicy. Broad. Fruit-rich . Luxurious

CheckMate Artisanal Winery
CheckMate Artisanal Winery is the only British Columbia winery in history to be awarded a 100 point score on a wine.
About The Vineyard: Phil set out to make sophisticated Chardonnays and Merlots by meticulously focusing on family-owned and farmed estate vineyards, relentlessly studying and researching rows within them to define micro-blocks. These sites, natural yeasts and artisanal winemaking resulted in a collection of remarkable Chardonnays and outstanding Merlots. He let nature take its course, with no fining or filtration to allow for the full potential of flavour expression.
CheckMate Artisanal Winery Featured Wines

CheckMate Fool’s Mate Chardonnay 2018
A complex wine with aromas of peach, mango and passionfruit backed by hints of graphite. The palate has a rich entry with flavours of pear and nectarine. There is tension across the mid palate followed by long lasting herbal, wet stone and mineral elements.
CheckMate Capture Chardonnay 2018
The natural ferment contributes lifted aromatics and a subtle infusion of herbs, spices, and fruit. The palate has a fresh entry of apple blossom and mandarin followed by silky stone fruits with a long sea salt finish. This wine has finesse.
CheckMate Opening Gambit Merlot 2018
An elegant nose of plum and black fruits with creamy undertones and mocha notes. The palate is charming with a rich entry of blackberry and black cherry fruits giving way to chocolate notes and polished tannins.
